Tokyo Disneyland to axe Buzz Lightyear ride

Tokyo Disneyland bids farewell to Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters as part of an exciting overhaul of Tomorrowland.

In a phased reimagining, a new adventure awaits with the arrival of a Wreck-It Ralph shooting attraction in 2026, marking the end of an era for Buzz Lightyear's beloved ride. Closing its doors in October 2024, Buzz Lightyear will make room for the upcoming attraction. Alongside, the adjacent Planet M store will undergo a transformation to match the fresh theme.

The new ride promises cutting-edge technology upgrades, as depicted in the concept art. Inspired by the success of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle at Hong Kong Disneyland, the revamped experience will feature innovative blasters and vehicles. Shanghai Disneyland's Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue also serves as a reference for the new shooting-ride system.

In this thrilling adventure, guests will join forces with Vanelope and Ralph to embark on a journey into the vibrant world of the racing video game "Sugar Rush". Tasked with thwarting the impending destruction caused by King Candy's bugs, players must collaborate to restore order by transforming the pesky insects back into their original delectable forms, such as cookies and cakes. Get ready for an unforgettable quest to save Sugar Rush!
