The eagerly anticipated launch of a ferry service between the Isles of Scilly and Penzance, slated to commence in May, has faced a setback.

Harland & Wolff (H&W), the shipbuilder, revealed on Friday that the scheduled commencement of the new ferry, which they have chartered, will be postponed until early June.

John Wood, the Chief Executive, extended apologies to individuals who had already booked reservations with Scilly Ferries for crossings in May.

Wood explained that the new vessel, Atlantic Wolff, is set to depart from Spain to the UK imminently; however, it will undergo regulatory procedures upon arrival before it can commence operations.
