Dubai's ruler has announced plans for a groundbreaking $35 billion airport project set to revolutionise air travel. Upon its operational debut, the Al Maktoum International Airport will soar as the largest in the world, according to the Gulf state's ruler.
Designed to accommodate a staggering 260 million passengers annually, the Al Maktoum airport will dwarf the current Dubai International, boasting a capacity five times its size. With 400 terminal gates and five parallel runways, the infrastructure promises unparalleled efficiency and convenience.
This mega-airport will serve as the new hub for flagship carrier Emirates, sister low-cost airline Flydubai, and all other airline partners connecting Dubai to the world. To support the airport's monumental scale, plans include the construction of an entire city capable of accommodating up to a million residents.
In a strategic move outlined on X , Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, revealed intentions to transition all operations from Dubai International to Al Maktoum in the coming years, signalling a bold step toward redefining the future of air travel.
